Yellow just became the go-to color for the summer…
I was never a big fan of yellow or any bright color for that matter, but all of that is changing little by little. I decided to switch up my style a bit and explore all the ways I can express myself. My goal isn’t to be a style blogger or anything, I just want to step out of my comfort zone in every aspect of my life: style, beauty, etc.. My thought process is, if I step out of my zone little by little it would become more natural for me so when I start making bigger adjustments it won’t catch me off guard. I’ll keep you posted on whether this actually works or not.
I decided to start with my style because, one, I need new clothes and two, I haven’t done any style refreshers in a looong time. Lately, I’ve been inspired to try wearing more colors and have a balanced mix of simple chic pieces and street style vibes. I’ve been shopping at Macy’s, TJ Maxx, Urban Outfitters, and my new obsession – ASOS for the majority of my new pieces.
SB: ASOS is a f*cking vibe. They literally have every outfit on my style board and it seems like they’re always having a sale. (That was your cue to go check them out.)
Anyway, the journey for new clothes has been up and down but that was expected. I’ve had ideas in my head and on my style board that just didn’t come out how I expected. I had a lot of hits and misses with sizes while shopping online and spending money I probably shouldn’t have. But this is a journey to recreate and express myself, and I 1000% the idea of investing in you and your happiness. My mom always told me,
You are not just here to pay bills, you deserve to buy things that you love or want.
Once I got over the guilt of spending money, my next mission was to switch up my color scheme. Prior to my new style inspiration, you can count on my closet being 90% dark colors. Now my only style rule is to avoid dark colors and comfortability. I would’ve never pictured myself wearing bright colors, yet I fell in love with yellow. It’s such a happy color and compliments my skin tone very well. I found this cute jumpsuit in the Backstage department at Macy’s. When I saw it and knew right away I wanted it. It’s perfect for all occasion and is versatile enough to go with heels, sneakers, and sandals. Needless to say, I’ll be buying a lot of yellow pieces and mixing and matching my colors.
Before I end this post, I want to share my style concept. I’m not a fashion girl and never will be. My concept relies strictly on feeling. Looking your best allows you to be your best. Exploring every layer of you helps understand yourself better. For me, it’s the external working with your internal to set you up for greatness.
Life is too short to be wearing boring clothes. Explore your creativity, style, and expression.
Show up how you want to be seen.
Don’t feel guilty about investing in you.
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
